It's disgusting to see how Anet killed HA, dropped Frozen Soil on it, and now trying to res.
Guess what, doesnt work.

I really hope you're right, but I doubt it. Many of the "old" HA-players, including myself, have left GW. 8v8 will bring back some of them but surely not all. For many of them GW is now a total turn-off. Furthermore, many don't trust Anet anymore regarding their policies. You might like the game at a certain time, and suddenly they decide to make such a huge change, that it's not the same game anymore. It'll take more than just restoring 8v8 to bring them back.

A week of 8v8 should be nice, but Alex, you better reply by saying "Oh, did I say 'week"? I meant FOREVER" :P

The Frozen Soil reference was kinda funny the first time it was used, but really lets not milk it.

WOW Alex AND JR show up.... this thread just got 10 times more interesting. It just needs some punch and pie and we can sticky this.
12 AM EST is in fact pretty consistantly dead though. I mean even from 10 EST to 11 EST you would be pretty lucky not to get some big skips. So in all fairness that is pretty (tyring to figure out how to put the inflection on that word in text) dead. But definately not a ghost town. And even still ther SHOULD at least be SOME people playing.
I can honestly say that the population of newer HAers is really getting to be just awefully sad. When I can play HA I fight the same ranked teams over and over and over. Our wins are decent but our fame intake is really hurting because we win a well fought match vs a tough team, then lose to the next tough team. And the group I play with has basically faded away these past coupe weeks.
Ive played ranked PUGs and get beat pretty bad, Ive played unranked PUGs and those players dont have ANY fun at all. They rage quit and never come back. Its so discouraging for the poor unranked players that I had to take a step back and think about when I was unranked. Sure it was a challenge to rank up back then, but these new players have it MUCH MUCH worse than we did by constantly fighting the few people that are holding on to HA for dear life.
That being said, the population of HA is just declining at warp speed because if you think youre not having fun as a top level player, imagine what the potential new players are feeling. This population decline is the MAJOR problem with HA atm. I dont exactly know how Anet can get people interested in playing and staying in HA at this point.

And yet somehow I don't feel sorry for them, I can't feel sorry for unranked people because they trash talk too much and think everyone who is high ranked IWAYed.
Anyways to Alex, looking forward to the 8v8 weekend, oh and by the way just to add to the arguement about HA dieing, I used to be pissed off that noob hour started at 12 pm my time, aka when Americans get up, no offense , now I have noob hour all day but somehow I'm not happy.

Not all unranked players are like that, but I agree with you, I dont feel sorry for them (everyone has to go through that), but I do feel sorry for HA as it needs those players to maintain the player base and keep it fun for the majority of players.
The way to win fame is to be better than your opponent, however for new players it means sucking less than your opponent. When there are no new players in HA for them to compete against, it means they dont get any incentive to come back.

I disagree. 12 AM was never dead... it's primetime for west coast and east coast is still playing. The sharp drop in number of teams used to happen at around 1:30-2. The bulk of my time in HA was late at night ever since I started playing and this was the third NOP I ever got in halls:
The first was in summer 2006 after 3 AM...
The second was three days ago.
The third was two days ago (screenshot).
Not to mention that we got 6 1v1 fights in the last 3 nights (playing from roughly 10:30 to 2 AM est) So, yeah. I'd say HA population dropped quite a bit.

The irony of that line fits well with a lot of the situational irony in The Fifth Element. Your new avatar rocks by the way JR.

A week is nice however its all good saying "people will come back" which is what the majority of people are hoping for however i reckon most wont.
Also i have a small question, during the 8v8 event will it be with or without the new system for the event? i personally think it would be good to try both.
I decided to stop playing Heroes Ascent firstly after 6v6 was introduced and i simply didnt enjoy it and most people quite so was less people to play against, then i came back and quite again when i had two 1v1's in Halls (Not really in "dead hour") and had to wait on several occastions with "No opposing party etc"
Really i dont think an 8v8 week will change anything simply because too many people have left and have no intention to come back they have simply moved onto new games etc.
